Andersen charger

Certainly not disappointed, first class service from API and the Andersen has proved to be an excellent choice, well worth it. 5 stars from me.

Great Looking charger

Not a cheap product by any means. I had this installed in April21 and used it regulary for my Hybrid so its used 4+ times a week.

Overall its a good stylish product with indications to tell you when its charging and not.

Looks nice and descrete compared to other chargers out there.

Couple of points of improvements if you want to be critical.

The charger should have a self rewind. I found that sometimes being lazy i dont bother manually wraping the cable back into the box.

The Konnect app could do with improvements as it does not always save down the schedule time first time around when i amend.

Apart from those 2 points, it look slike good build qualitty hence why i gave it 4 out of 5.

Only time will tell if the cables become fray over time as i probably use this more than most due to a hybrid.

Stylish & Smart

Wanted a tethered unit, Mrs does not like cables, Fitted the unit to a 24 inch solid stone wall, looks very clean with no cables, The type 2 connector has a very long cable as well. The App is simple and allows for timed charging, you get reports on usage and allows you to disable the charger if you’re away, overall I would recommend this if you can afford it.

First class Charger

Andersen charger is a very stylish and neat product. Perfect to show off having fitted this adjacent to the front door. No messy cables or earth rods visible. 5 metre cable sits neatly hidden in the cabinet with stylish exterior. The Konnect app is very user friendly, allows one to set charging times to maximise low rates at night time, syncing perfectly with my Octopus Go super cheap EV tariff. The app shows usage in real time. Nothing to fault with this purchase. Simply outstanding product.

Great looking charger

We went for Anderson initially for its looks but since having had it installed we are also impressed with the app that you use to manage it and the information and control it gives you . The ability to wrap the tethered cable around the housing out of site is also a great plus .

Quality kit

January 30, 2021

At first we discounted buying this as being too expensive, but after finding out that our intended location was not feasible and the next best location was next to our front door we ended up buying it for its neat, discrete styling and tidyness with concealed cable housing. It was worth spending the extra money for that and as well as being an easy to use, well made quality piece of kit.

Get what you pay for

After spending a long time looking at charge points I ended up going with an Andersen A2 (Black + Black + Long cable) and do not regret my choice. It is the most expensive of all the chargers I looked at, however I think I got what I paided for. The unit is very nice and unobtrusive on the house, which was one of the big concerns I had. The fact that the cable wraps nicely into the unit is the big factor here; though the quality materials and workmanship should not be understated. The app is also clean and easy to use (Though I do not actually use it too much, not sure if that is due to the limited lockdown driving or just a lack of need).

The charger was installed by API electrical, who were absolutely fantstic in both the pre-sales and the installation.

If I had one complaint, it would be that the charger’s WiFi connection does not seem to be very good. It would continually send me notifications that it had lost connection. The WiFi where it is situated was not the best in it’s defence, but other devices seemed to get a little signal there so cannot understand the constant dropping. I understand it is possible to have it connected by network cable if needed, but I just put another WiFi access point in to improve coverage (which I was going to do for better coverage in the garden anyhow) which solved the issue. This is a minor gripe personally, and does not affect my rating. But something to be aware of if you are also thining of putting it somewhere with poor WiFi coverage.

Loving my Andersen

January 28, 2021

My Andersen was installed in October 2020. It is located on the side of my house, just outside my garage (which I use to store bicycles, my motorbike, tools and stuff). It is a lovely, slender grey box with understated quality and style. The little lights are hardly noticeable and when stowed, the cable is completely invisible. To stow the cable, you just have to wind it anticlockwise into the box, and finally drop the head into the top and close the lid. Job done. I hate EV chargers that have no design solution for cable storage – they are ugly. The Andersen is designed to stow its cable when it’s not in use, and even gives it a clean as it goes in (there are brushes built-in). The app is well designed, although I really don’t use it much. It does have features that could be useful after lock-down. My car is a Tesla Model 3. The Tesla charger is cheaper and has a button to open the charge port, but it’s not a patch on the Andersen in terms of design or looks (and Andersen is British, which makes me happy). Highly recommended.

Stylish and practical

I chose the Andersen 2 charger because our charger is right at the front of the house and I wanted it to be neat and tidy. The Andsersen 2 is really stylish and the 8 metre tethered cable stores out of sight. It is simple to use, with easy scheduling options. Keeping a record of charging costs is a nice touch too. Overall, highly recommended.

Scandi design with neat storage option for cable at a price!

September 15, 2020

Looks the part and usefully stores cable in cabinet which is an elegant solution for tethered systems. However it is an expensive charge point. Good design comes at a cost! The konnect app is pretty intuitive, connects charge point to wireless networks pretty simply. The cabinet looks pretty robust in the long run

Probably the best looking EV Charger for outdoor installation

September 15, 2020

The Andersen A2 is not cheap, but you get to choose a custom look for your device. I think it needs showing off, so best installed outside! The build is first class, and the weatherproof spec is very high, plus a life-time guarantee. There is no need for your installer to fit an earth cable, and once the device is installed and tested, you will need to download the Konnect+ app from Android store, or Apple Store. Setting up an account with Andersen can be done before you get your device, so a quick pairing and registration is all you need when you have your new charger. This I highly recommend, as it allows you to disable, schedule and enable the charger all from your phone. If you set up your electricity price per kWh, the statistics you get are very comprehensive and interesting. Please remember that a fairly strong wi-fi signal to the charger is necessary, otherwise you may need to discuss an ethernet cable with the installer.

So, a great device with a tethered cable, cleaning brushes when you wind and unwind the cable, plus a sort of fridge light to illuminate the cable reel when you use it in the dark. The only real practice you need is to wind the cable tight enough for the socket to fit nicely into the top holder – I have found clockwise wind and anticlockwise unwind works best for me. I highly recommend.
