Kia Soul EV
The Kia Soul EV is pure electric with a range of between 80-100 miles. It makes for an ideal, practical, and roomy city car with individual and appealing looks.
Hyundai-Kia plans to leap to the front of the industry’s pack with 26 hybrids, plug-ins and all-electric vehicles by 2020.
The Kia Soul EV is capable of charging via a secondary CHAdeMO rapid charge port in just 30 minutes or for home via its type 1 mode 3 inlet in around 4 hours with a 32A 7.4kW Charge Point.
The following Kia models are eligible for the EVHS grant
- Kia Niro PHEV
- Kia Soul EV
- Kia Optima PHEV
Kia has now started the influx of PHEVs in it’s range and the new crossover PHEV – the Niro priced at £30,495 (£27,995 after the grant reduction of £2,500) looks like it will be an appealing buy.
Boasting a 36 mile battery-only range, a good spec and it is also a full second quicker at 10.4 seconds to 60mph than the conventional hybrid, it crucially qualifies for the ultra-low emissions B.I.K tax rate of just 9%.
The Optima is another stylish PHEV addition to the Kia range. The mid-sized booted saloon (or estate) model also attracts the ultra-low emission company car tax of just 9% B.I.K, it also comes as a petrol – hybrid plug-in – and that will ease the minds of many fleet managers who will be looking for better options than the diesels that are now drawing attention from councils with punitive extra charges for parking and entering congestion zones.
